In the Scottsdale-Phoenix area, microneedling using radiofrequency energy is becoming the go-to skin tightening treatment. It’s easy to understand why. RF microneedling is an FDA-approved, nonsurgical procedure that produces dramatic results but requires minimal downtime. Patients can choose to target the neck, jowls, eyes and eyelids, cheeks, or the entire face.
Is RF Microneedling Right for You?
Even though many people think of microneedling as a skin tightening treatment only, the benefits of the procedure are much more varied. From wrinkles to stretch marks to acne and surgical scars, microneedling has proven effective for reducing virtually all visual effects of aging, as well as improving the texture, smoothness, and firmness of the skin. The RF microneedling device we use is appropriate for all types of skin, and most patients notice the targeted skin is smoother and softer after a single treatment.
How Much Does RF Microneedling Cost?
One of the reasons for RF microneedling’s popularity is that it’s a cost-effective way to address concerns when compared to laser skin resurfacing. The treatment cost varies depending on the extent of the procedure, and we provide a detailed price quote after your consultation.
How Does RF Microneedling Work?
Microneedling is also called collagen induction therapy, or CIT. Collagen, along with elastin, is one of the fundamental elements of smooth, firm skin. When you’re young, skin heals and maintains a youthful look because of collagen. As we age, the body produces less collagen, leading to the development of wrinkles. Microneedling alone is a minimally invasive treatment that involves pressing ultrafine needles into the skin, creating microinjuries that trigger the body’s healing process and the production of collagen and elastin.
When combined with radiofrequency energy, microneedling delivers heat to deeper layers of the skin to stimulate and remodel collagen and cause elastin cells to regenerate. The result is firmer, smoother skin.
What Does RF Microneedling Feel Like?
Most patients who undergo RF microneedling tolerate the procedure well. Our aesthetic nurse and esthetician, who both perform the treatment, apply a numbing cream before beginning the procedure to ensure patients remain comfortable. During the treatment, they press the device against the skin to allow the microneedles and radiofrequency energy to penetrate the skin. You’ll likely experience warmth and a prickling sensation as the providers gently move the device across the treatment area.
You can expect to have some redness, minimal swelling, and sensitivity for up to 48 hours after the treatment.
