Tired of Looking Tired? Try These 5 Surgical & Nonsurgical Options for Rejuvenating Your Eyes

Woman looks rejuvenated and drinks her coffee.

Do people often tell you that you look tired even when you got a full 8 hours of sleep the night before? Or maybe they ask what’s got you feeling so grumpy or worn out even when you’re having a great time. If this sounds all too familiar, you may be the perfect candidate for eye rejuvenation. From fillers to blepharoplasty, my Scottsdale practice offers a full range of treatments to help you look as youthful and refreshed as you feel.

In this blog post, I’ll share my recommendations for surgical and nonsurgical treatments designed to give you brighter, more awake-looking eyes.

BOTOX® Cosmetic

Achieve a subtle brow lift and banish frown lines and crow’s feet for months at a time with BOTOX. This injectable treatment takes just a few minutes, and results appear within about a week.

How does BOTOX work?

In general, BOTOX works by relaxing specific muscles in your face, which allows the overlying skin to become smoother. To achieve a subtle brow lift and a more open, awake look, BOTOX eases the muscles that pull down on the inner and outer brows.

Dermal Fillers

Coffee and concealer not cutting it? Disguise under-eye bags and smooth out hollow tear troughs with fillers. Like BOTOX, this injectable treatment takes just a few minutes and produces results right away, though it may take a week or so for swelling to go down.

How do dermal fillers work?

Though you may not think adding volume to areas of puffiness would help the issue, it’s all about the placement. Placing fillers in the areas around the bags disguises the protrusions and creates the illusion of a smoother, more rejuvenated under-eye. Fillers also work beautifully for restoring volume in empty or sunken areas, helping you look as youthful and energetic as you feel.

RF Microneedling

Say goodbye to crepey skin and under-eye wrinkles with a collagen-stimulating radiofrequency (RF) microneedling treatment. Enjoy smoother, more elastic skin around your eyes in just around an hour, with little to no recovery time.

How does RF microneedling work?

The Pixel8-RF system takes traditional microneedling to a new level by incorporating RF energy. This energy heats the deeper layers of your skin to encourage loads of new collagen production. Combine that with the collagen-stimulating benefits of traditional microneedling, and you’re left with smoother, youthful skin around your eyes.

Eyelid Surgery

The ultimate eye rejuvenation procedure, eyelid surgery removes puffy bags and lifts drooping eyelids to turn back the clock on your eyes. (It’s also becoming increasingly popular in the era of Zoom. Learn more in this previous blog post.)

How does eyelid surgery work?

Upper eyelid surgery corrects drooping upper eyelids by removing or tightening excess skin and muscle. Lower eyelid surgery repositions the fat bags or removes the puffy bags and fills in hollows using either dermal fillers or your own fat via fat transfer. As a plastic surgeon, I sometimes recommend that my Scottsdale patients have both of these procedures done together for the best results. Other times, they only need one or the other to achieve a result they love.

Brow Lift

If you look tired or grumpy even on your best days, you may be a candidate for an endoscopic brow lift to open your expression and reveal a more youthful upper face.

How does brow lift surgery work?

A brow lift subtly lifts the skin of your forehead through small incisions made along your hairline. This smooths out lines and creates a naturally more lifted and awake look. Many people choose to combine a brow lift with eyelid surgery for a more dramatic transformation.

Your Eye Makeover

Sometimes, the best way to rejuvenate your eyes is a combination of a few of these treatments. When you visit me for a consultation, we’ll discuss how surgical and nonsurgical options can work together to keep you looking as young and fresh as possible for as long as possible.
