Have Waited So Long for This - Scottsdale, AZ So I have been following a lot of peoples updates on here and it has all been very helpful and informative, so I have decided to start posting my experiences to hopefully help someone as well in the future. I have always had a problem with my nose. Although I am really happy with the front view of my face I have always hated my profile. No one has ever made fun of me or anything, it's just something that I am very critical about for myself. So my husband and I decided that it's time for me to finally get a nose job! He has never seem an issue with it but he knows how much it bothers me so he is very supportive, all my family is actually very supportive. I have already had my pre op and only have one more week before the big day! I have 100% trust in my surgeon, he specializes in facial plastic surgery and I feel he understands everything I want, which is overall my dorsal hump being filed down and tip taken in a bit. It's not as easy as that, all the steps he has to do to get my end result but that's the jist of it. My MIL will be watching my two children for the first couple of days while my husband will take care of me. Has anyone found it hard to take care of two toddlers days after surgery difficult? Can't wait to show everyone the end results 🙂 I officially only have one more week until the big day! I know it is going to go by so fast too. I feel I have mentally prepared myself as good as I can, alot has to do with reading others past experiences as well. For one, I expect to not like my nose when my cast first comes off, and to not see any "good" results until about 3 weeks either. If i set myself up that way, I may be pleasantly surprised. I actually have a breast augmentation consult scheduled tomorrow, my nose doc said I have no restrictions on when I can get that done and he will leave the time frame up to the other surgeon. He just said for me to remind them about being careful about putting anything over my face. So I am hoping I can get that done 3 to 4 weeks after my rhino. We will see Well it is finally here, tomorrow is my surgery! I am starting to get a little nervous but im super excited at the same time. I think I am underestimating the recovery from this. I try and always be "super woman" when it comes to taking care of my kids and husband etc. but im trying to remember that its going to take more than a couple of days before I start to feel pretty good. That is probably going to be the hardest part for me. Still pretty nervous about the anesthesia but from what I hear I will go to sleep and wake up like no time has passed at all, so that's a little reassuring as well. Anyway cant wait to post some "after" pictures for you guys 🙂 I will write more later when I'm not on my phone, but so far so good. Everything is done and I feel fine so far. I can even breath out of my nose! So far it not too bad, I think I have been talking to people to much because it's starting to bleed a lot. I have thrown up 4 times so far, it's bit too horrible. My throat ha a little tickle but I'm trying not to cough because it makes my nose hurt. It's not too horrible* Slept pretty good last night actually, I have not been able to keep anything down though, I think it has to do with the blood draining in my stomach. My actual nose doesn't hurt, it's more like a dull achy pain. I have been keeping up on my pain meds so I'm sure that's helping. I'm having a hard time cleaning it though, I don't want to be too aggressive, I have just been doing a little bit of the ocean nasal spray then q-tips with hydrogen peroxide around the nostrils followed by the antibiotic ointment around the nostrils. After doing that I still feel like there is so much leftover blood, so not sure if I'm cleaning it right or not Its day 3 and I feel pretty good. I am more swollen today, but i think thats just because i have been a lot more active (like making breakfast taking care of dog and kids). My husband went and got my kids from my MIL this morning i havent seen my son yet (4) he went straight to preschool, but my daughter (2) wouldn't even let me hold her at first 🙁 shes warming up to me now, I do look a little scary lol. I am no longer bleeding alot and took my drip pad off, and I did have my doc call in an anti nausea medication which has been wonderful, I can finally keep food down 🙂 I am also going to try and just manage pain with Tylenol today as well so we will see how that goes Pain wise today it has not been too bad, yesterday was the worst for pain but I slept the best last night. I think im having a hard time with the pain because I am doing so much too early. My kids are home and although I have help from my husband its still hard not being in "mom mode" and just getting things done especially hard with my daughter having special needs . I have only been taking half a pain med because they make me feel weird and I don't like that but it doesn't really help mask the pain. Anyhoo, its no biggie I can deal with it, I just feel like im kind of going backwards, more bruising and swelling today and started bleeding again. I will post a picture soon. Don't mind my hair in these pictures, it's really the last thing I'm worried about right now 😉 Today has been the best so far. Pain is minimal, swelling has moved down to my cheeks. I was able to clean and cook today with no problem so that was nice. I noticed that my nostrils are a little crooked but that could just be from the pressure from the cast and the swelling, we will see, its starting to burn and itch a little bit under the cast as well, I can breath a little bit better today and smell a little bit too I haven't washed my face yet because I don't want the tape to come off, when do most people feel comfortable doing that? So far today has been great! Very minimal pain, I have only taken Tylenol today to manage any discomfort. I took a shower it was a lot easier avoiding my nose than I imagined it would be, I have returned to all my regular activities like cooking cleaning etc. even cut my husband hair. Will defiantly hold off on working out until the 6 week mark is up. I can already tell the skin under my nose is super oily, I hope I dont break out, I usually have clear skin that tends to run on the dry side, o well if I do. Ready for my chipmunk cheeks to disappear So tomorrow will mark one week since my surgery, so far it hasn't been as bad as I expected. Nothing too new today, the swelling in my jaw has almost disappeared. Everything has been great today then I wasn't paying attention to my daughter sitting next to me on the couch and she flinged her arm right in my face and hit me right on my nose, although she is only 16lbs it still hurt soooo bad. My husband assures me it probably didn't screw up my nose, but now my pain has gotten really bad again. Oh well I need to pay closer attention when sitting next to my little ones 🙂 I have been having little panic attacks before I go to bed because it still freaks me out only being able to breath through my mouth and I don't really think about that until I'm laying in bed, during the day I an breath a little through my nostrils but I seem to clog up before bed too. Chewing still hurts and yawning especially. Well that's all I can think of right now Sooo the cast came off today..and overall I am very happy! They first pulled out he stitches which was not as bad as I anticipated, the worst was the cast coming off, not horrible but I didn't like the pressure feeling of it came off very uncomfortable. So then it came time for me to look in the mirror, honestly I was shocked at first by how swollen the tip looked, but because of this website I knew to expect that, so I wasn't too freaked out. It was so weird seeing me with a straight nose too, I couldn't belive it! Anyways my surgeon said it's exactly where he wants it to be swelling and all and knows that it will turn out to be great. He said it's the nose that was meant for my face and I couldn't agree more. I am going to continue to tape the bridge not only to help with swelling but to not feel so exposed as well. I have two small children and and 11month old 90lb rhodesian ridgeback so I am still very protective of my new nose lol. Anyways I'm looking forward to see how much it improves in the next coming weeks I also over empathized with my surgeon that I rather look under done than over done. I would even be ok with a little hump more so than and overly scooped nose. I think he did exactly what I wanted I was actually really nervous to show my parents, but they were both very happy. My mom said it reminds her of the nose I had before I broke it (softball to the face) and that makes her so happy. She was afraid that I wouldn't look like "me" Just washed my new nose do the first time, and it sure felt weird! Where my hump used to be there is a sharp tingling pain when I put pressure on it. I have it taped up now for bed time and if I'm not going anywhere I will probably just keep it taped to help with settling and swelling. My husband is still in shock (a good shock) that I don't have a bump anymore So far it has been great, everyone loves my new nose and I do too. I have only been out in public a couple of times, but I feel like my scar isn't super noticeable, bruises are completely gone and that's the only thing that I feel makes it look like I had a nose job. There is still some swelling, I do tape it every night (and day If I don't go anywhere) to help with it. I can't believe how fast my recovery has been though, I feel like I am back to my 100% self with daily activities (except working out). I don't really have any pain at this point either just a slight achy feeling at times. So today I went grocery shopping and picked my son up from preschool. I was defiantly trying to avoid talking to people because you can still see my scar, but I still had some new found confidence as well. I'm still taping during the day if I don't have to go anywhere and at night to help with swelling. Well thankfully for this site and others reviews I feel somewhat prepared for the "the tip of my nose looks huge" phase. Today has been that day. I think it has to do with a couple of different factors, one being im now getting used to my new nose so instead of it being so new and different I am critiquing it a little more, also since its starting to drop a little bit and a little more swollen (hopefully) the tip looks huge and long to me. It has only been three weeks and I know there is still going to be a lot of changing so I am not going to obsess over it just yet. Will post some pictures in a bit I find it extremely helpful to put my before and after pictures right against each other so I can see the huge improvement. I'm still loving my new nose and got a really nice compliment from another plastic surgeon (for my boob job) this last week So I'm just a couple of days shy of it being my one month post op. I can't believe how fast it has gone by especially the healing part. So what's new latly, nothing too much still happy with my nose, I officially have my smile back which is so nice, I still feel a bit tugging between my lip and nose but nothing too uncomfortable. I have been noticing my "dissolvable" stitches are starting to undo themselves and come out too which I'm pretty sure is normal from other stuff I have been reading. Well that is it for now I will update again when I have my one month post op with my doctor. Had my one month post op with my surgeon, everything went good, he recommended that I start massaging my incision spot with some scar cream ( its a little red and bumpy) so I went ahead and ordered Mederma and will start using that. Im still super happy with my nose, love it more some days than others, but still overall best decision ever! sorry I havent posted sooner, but I recently had a boob job so that kind of took attention over my nose for the last couple weeks, fyi the pain from my boob job was WAY worse than the pain or discomfort I had from my rhinoplasty. Anyways still loving my nose, no regrets! I have a slight bump on my bridge but its not too bad, some days its more noticeable and somedays I cant hardly see it. I have two hard bumps on the inside of my nose where my incision is. I think it may be scar tissue, I have been massaging it with mederma per my surgeons recommendations. I did not scar well with my c sections so im a little worried that my scar will be a little noticeable. I think that is about it with the new updates 🙂 will post some pics soon Just had my 5 month post op with my doctor, nothing too new to update on, being only 5 months post is still early in rhino healing terms, my scar looks so much better, it's still noticeable to me but he said it will fade even more with time. I was feeling like the tip of my nose was still kinda long but after watching that new show botched I have learned that I much rather have projection in my nose than none at all since based on that show it seems like that where a lot of rhinos go bad. My doctor said there will still be some gradual changes in the next few months like more definition in the tip and less bumpy feeling on ridge. One thing that I have really been trying to remind myself throughout this whole process is not to be overly critical of my new nose, which is hard for us people that have spent so much time being critical and over analyzing our old noses, I'm trying not to fall back into that strictly out of habit. I have to remember to look at my face as a whole and not just zero in on my nose. Overall I still love my new nose! I went through some old pictures and some news ones and tried to get some before and after comparisons that I will post

Asymmetrical Cheek Augmentation - Phoenix, AZ Dr. Hobgood did an excellent job bringing symmetry back to my face. He's eye for symmetry and practical approach to a solution were the main reasons I chose him as my Dr. We did a cheek implant and fat transfer for the first procedure and then had to follow up with a Voluma injection. Highly recommended.

Dr. Hobgood in Scottsdale, AZ- Love my New Nose!! Rhino, Tip, and Full Sinus Surgery- I Was a Mess!! - Gilbert, AZ I will post pictures soon- they took before pix at the office that I will obtain and then add what I look like today. I had a really bad nose; really boxy, long, tall, crooked and just big. It didn't fit my tiny face or body at all. Dr Hobgood knew going into it that it was a tough nose to work on- he told me!! He's very easy to talk to, I consulted with 8 doctors before chosing him. I also have very thick skin; very oily and dark complected which means a much longer recovery time. So it's been about 4 months and I realize I still have swelling which I expected but my nose looks so so so much better! It is no longer the focal point of my face. It's staright, much smaller and more femanine- but yes still swollen at the tip.. I can't wait to see what it looks like a year from now. I went into this well educated- make sure you read as much as you can so you have a realistic expectation. My nose will never be perfect, but it's so much better and I'm very happy I did it. He's also done Juvederm under my eyes and botox for me, very happy with that as well. I'm due to get a refill soon! I'll grab my b4 pix and post later in Jan 🙂

Excellent Doctor for Filler Correction / Hylauronidaise - Scottsdale, AZ I flew in from Alberta to Scottsdale to see dr hobgood for a correction to tear trough filler done by another doctor. He is so easy to talk to and very kind. If you need correction don't be scared go see him! He did a great job. I chose he because he is rated #1 in pheonix for facial plastics and is known to have a great bedside manner. He was also booked but came in early twice to treat me as I was from out of town.

Restylane and Perlane in Tear Trough and Lower Jaw Line I previously had Juvederm injected into my marionette lines and had a horrible experience. The injector hit a vein and I had an occlusion. If you know what that is, it isn't pretty. Needless to say, I was nervous and was not going to let anyone but a plastic surgeon inject a filler into my face . Dr Hobgood takes his time, and is very gentle and I completely trusted him. The swelling has subsided, and I love my filler.

Rhinoplasty/Septoplasty - Scottsdale, AZ I'm a 47 year old female. My nostrils have always been crooked, one was round and one was narrow. Over the last few years I have developed a chronic sore in the narrow one in the fold and assumed it was because I was getting older. I felt that a plastic surgeon would be able to straighten it out. In my search for a doctor, I looked at plastic surgeons, then found Dr. Hobgood who is both a facial plastic surgeon and an ENT. In researching him I just felt he would be a good doctor to consult, and it's a good thing I did because we discovered my septum was so crooked that it would need to be straightened before anything else could be fixed. I ended up having two surgeries at one time: the necessary surgery-the septum part, then elective surgery-removing small bump at the top of my nose, making the tip smaller (I might as well as long as I was having surgery!) He also placed something inside that would hold my nostrils out and make them flatter. The surgery went well (I'm a good patient and this was my fifth surgery), I was home a few hours after waking up. Three days later I couldn't stand the cast so I took it off (my instructions said if it fell off that was ok, I figured I could help it off!). Healing went well and swelling was gone for the most part after a couple of weeks. Bruising was minimal. He did say that it can continue to get smaller and softer for a year or longer but that would be minimal. I am very pleased and happy I got this done. The chronic sore is gone, but also the crooked end, and I am not embarrassed for people to see it!

Wonderful Gifted Surgeon! - Scottsdale, AZ

Absolutely Amazing. He Took Years Off My Face - Scottsdale, AZ I decided to update my review after seeing several of my patients after their return from their treatment with Dr. Hobgood. I continue to be amazed by his work. After working with some good plastic surgeons in the valley, I was fortunate enough to find Dr. Hobgood. I have been a patient of his for well over a year now and continue to be amazed by the results. My colleagues and patients continue to comment about how well rested and youthful I appear. The results are quite natural and not overdone. However, the true testament of his skills have been my patients' results. In working with the over 50 year old population, I have seen several patients whose treatment with Dr. Hobgood has ranged from the elective cosmetic (ex face lift) to the more demanding reconstructive treatment for deformities caused by cancerous lesions slowly eroding their face. The results have been phenomenal! There is obviously a reason that I and many of my colleagues have voted Dr. Hobgood the best facial plastic surgeon in the Valley. There are many good surgeons in Phoenix. But, if you are looking for a GREAT plastic surgeon who is a master of his craft and highly respected and trusted by his peers, then this is the one.

Best Doctor - Only One I'll Ever Trust with my Face. I wanted to eliminate the brown spots on my forehead and cheeks. Also, minimize wrinkles around my eyes and forehead. Friends tell me my skin looks smooth and youthful.

Excellent ENT - Scottsdale, AZ I had skin grafting on my eyelid when I was 15. Over time the eyelid began to droop affecting my vision. My eyes no longer were even close to matching. Dr. Hobgood removed the previous scar tissue and turned it sideways to correct the problem. He tightened my other eyelid so that both eyes would now match.

Couldn't find a better doctor who is more skilled, professional and talented. He has outstanding social skills, is confident, engaging and concerned about his patients. We interviewed three other cosmetic surgeons from La Jolla, CA to Scottsdale, AZ prior to meeting Dr. Hobgood. However, once my husband and I met with Dr. Hobgood for a consultation, we knew he was the right surgeon to perform my face lift procedure. Couldn't be happier. Grateful to have met Dr. Hobgood.

Dr Hobgood is the textbook definition of a Top Doc. I had a cancer event that required facial plastic surgery repair. Then, adding to the adventure, I ended up being a "challenging" healer. Cannot say enough about Dr. Hobgood's knowledge, professionalism, KINDNESS. I'm so glad my cancer doc sent me to Hobgood. Such a nice man on top of being an excellent doctor. Very hard to find these days. His staff is also the same, they are very supportive and positive. THANK YOU, so so much...

Dr. Hobgood is the best. He is an expert at what he does and if you choose him for surgery, you will not need to worry or second guess anything. He is also a great person and will spend time with you, make you laugh and feel comfortable. I would recommend him a million times over.

Doctors like this are Rare today. I was so overwhelmed with a decision I made elsewhere, before I knew better. I found Dr Hobgood through realself.com. I had a very unfortunate experience elsewhere and my previous Dr was of no help in explaining why I was having the symptoms I was. I sought out the expertise of Dr Hobgood and he was very thorough in explaining to me what I was dealing with and how we could proceed should I choose that route. I certainly wont go anywhere else in the future!!

Dr. Hobgood was very accessible...knowledgeable, kind, thorough, meticulous. He excels in all regards.

Well the doctor is very understanding and helpful....the nurses are all friendly as well....had a good experience here.

As soon as I met Dr. Hobgood I knew I wanted him to be my doctor. He is very kind, knowledgeable and incredibly helpful. He spent a lot of time with me and answered all of my questions. I feel like my new nose is the nose I was always meant to have. I can’t express how much more comfortable I am in my own skin. The only regret I have is not having found Dr. Hobgood 10 years earlier!

I have had several procedures over the years by other doctors and Dr. Hobgood is the best by far...all around great skills and bedside manner. I recommend him to all my friends and family. He and his staff are OUTSTANDING!

My experience with Dr. Hobgood and his staff had been exceptional! I am extremely happy with the results of my surgery. I made sure to follow all of the post-op instructions and I had no complications! Dr. Hobgood and his staff are extremely kind and professional. I would recommend Dr. Hobgood to anyone who is considering cosmetic surgery!

Dr. Hobgood is an excellent doctor with the most caring bedside manner!

I took a long time to reflect and research going through cosmetic surgery. Dr Hobgood and his staff are very professional and efficient. My worries, questions, and ideas were always welcomed and addressed. Dr Hobgood was very passionate, personable and honest throughout the whole process. I am pleased with how things turned out.

I am so blessed to do this type of work and be a part of my patients lives. It is truly an honor - even feel that way after 24 years in practice! Thank you for sharing your story! Dr. Hobgood

Dr. Hobgood is a master surgeon but his most endearing quality is his personality and bedside manner. From the initial consultation he made me feel so comfortable and cared for. He answered all my questions and made me feel at ease. I was very nervous about having facial surgery and Dr. Hobgood was understanding and patient with me. It has been six months since my facelift, eyelid surgery and brow lift. Not once have I regretted my decision. I did not want to look "worked on." The results are very natural and just what I was hoping they would be. The first picture was taken three months post surgery on our African safari. The second picture was taken two weeks ago. Thank you Dr. Hobgood for helping me obtain my goal of a fresher natural looking me!

Business Owner replied on Sep 12, 2024:

That’s it!!! “A fresher natural me!” Many of our facelift, brow and eyelid patients are concerned that they will look overdone or unnatural. For certain, all of these surgeries do take time to recover and heal appropriately. Small challenges can and do arise sometimes along the way, unfortunately. I am glad that you had a very successful journey. You describe such a wonderful experience of getting to know our team while we get to know you and your family! We truly do love our patient family, and are humbled by the opportunities to care for patients like you. Thank you so much for the beautiful pictures and words that will inspire so many! We are grateful to be a part of your story. Dr. Hobgood

Dr.Hobgood is the nicest, most caring surgeon i have ever met… and I have had lots of broken bones/tonsil surgeries and he wad by far the best all around. I had a revision rhinoplasty with Hobgood because my first closed nose surgery (soley for breathing) and it healed incorrectly. The surgery was so relaxing and easy going. BTW…. I LOVE MY RESULTS!!! Exactly what I was hoping for only 3 months later🩷 He did amazing. Healing process can be annoying but Hobgood and his staff are amazing at reaching out to check in and picking up calls. 100% recommend This Facial plastic Surgery Spot in Scottsdale. I traveled by plane and stayed a week and flew back - super easy and discussed during consultation!

Business Owner replied on Mar 5, 2026:

Dr. Todd was the second doctor I met with to discuss a potential rhinoplasty procedure. I realized without hesitation after meeting with him that if I was going to have the procedure, he was going to be my surgeon. After many years of feeling like my nose was a foreign object on my face, I now do not waste energy worrying about how to hide it. I finally like my nose, it fits my face and doesn’t feel at all unnatural. I feel like it’s the nose I was born with. The result Dr. Todd achieved is exactly what I had envisioned and hoped for, and I am grateful for his genuine caring and respect for my concerns and wishes, and his honesty about the procedure and what to expect.

….I don’t believe I expressed how happy I am at our last appointment. I am thrilled each time I look in the mirror and do not see that tired looking face from a year ago looking back at me! Thank you very much for doing such wonderful work! [My husband] and I both think you are a caring and an exceptionally skilled surgeon. How fortunate the practice is in Phoenix to have someone of your caliber joining their team.

Before I had my procedures done, I had been very self conscious of my side profile. I thought about it all the time, and I felt really flawed. I finally made the decision to have the surgery and I’m glad I did. I no longer worry about my side profile, and people know something changed about me, but they don’t know what did. They just know I look better….I really do now have a boosted self confidence because I am not preoccupied by my appearance. I don’t think I could ever thank you enough.

I highly recommend Dr. Hobgood as a doctor for your needs regarding facial plastic surgery. My skin cancer doctor suggested that [Dr. Hobgood] may be able to perform a deep skin peel or laser to improve my appearance and help prevent recurrences of future skin cancers.

Dr. Hobgood is a rare type of doctor. He really takes an interest in his patients. He has made several calls to my home to personally check on me; most of these calls were made on his own time either in the evenings or on the weekend. He tries to adjust his schedule to make it easier to see the people who need to see him. If you are looking for a skilled and caring doctor, look no further. Dr. Todd is number one! I just wish he were still in Columbus.

You are such an amazing doctor, and really treated us as not just patients, but you really got to know us on an individual level. We are both doing very well, and Rachel’s nose is gorgeous. She absolutely loves it!

Your concern and attention were very much appreciated and helped me through difficult times. I am very pleased with my results both in terms of piece of mind and the cosmetic result. I wish that all physicians were as caring and committed as you are to your patients and I would, without any hesitation, recommend you to others. You are an excellent surgeon and a very nice person.
